@chris Indeed, and I have a hunch that we might see more books like this. Depending on the nature and scale of a project, I often feel that a software developer is less like a programmer and more like a chef choosing and pulling together many different ingredients to build a system.

To be honest the train from Crewe to Bangor does most of the work on Monday morning and Friday evening, and the cycling certainly beats a session at the gym from the point of view of fitness.

Personal Impact perhaps?

Without launching a model that looks like a kids first attempt with bubble liquid it would be difficult to really get it nailed properly. Then, of course, there is the rhythms involved. How does a Monday morning level of enjoyment compare with a pre bank holiday afternoon.
But this is mere hair splitting. I think you've produced something important and I can see this as the start of a whole University department if you play your cards right !

@Chris Convenience is the metric I grappled with the most, both in name and meaning. It's meant to be a catch-all for activities related/peripheral to the job but not the actual job itself. Other suggestions for the name of this metric would be gratefully received.

The Cheshire, Bangor, Caernarvon biking combo sounds quite hectic but hopefully it'll get even more rewarding as the weather improves ... !

Convenience is an interesting metric.

How does one score living in Cheshire, working in Bangor, sleeping in Caernarvon and getting between the last two on a bike? Hardly convenient but strangely rewarding.

@drj Many thanks! That sounds like a plausible part-explanation. And thank you for the word "dentritoid" which I feel is vastly underused in the English language. In fact a google for this word today brings up this article as the top hit! Safe.

A very well observed photo, thanks!

The inner part looks a bit like it might have been made by a grain of road grit falling onto the ice and melting it. Can't really explain the dendritoid polynas though.

Pretty.

I've yet to try the other games. The day after the end of pyweek my other half and I scootled off on holiday. Happily we're back well before the judging deadline. This means that for a few days I can bask in the glory of having finished a simple game before realising that the other teams have written creations to rival Doom! I think there are 40 games in total and I'm looking forward to playing them all!
